Lovecraft Country episode 5 is arriving this weekend on HBO, with the title "Strange Case." This week's episode is quite different from the previous ones as it will see a dramatic shift for what's coming to some of the characters. Most of them need to handle the crises looming around the corner.

Lovecraft Country episode 5 will answer the questions left in episode 4. The first thing that needed to be addressed here is: What is William (Jordan Patrick Smith) doing with Ruby (Wunmi Mosaku)? Clearly, his intentions aren't good and he wants something from her.

Ruby told William that being a black woman means she needs to be part of a rat race where the winner takes all. She wondered if things would be different for her if she's white. So, he offered something to her that would change her life -- but it comes with a price.

Ruby made a devil's bargain with William. She will be stepping into the charmed shoes of a white woman. However, her transformation further fortifies her resentment of the racial divide. This is something that could change how she views things.

Meanwhile, Hippolyta (Aunjanue Ellis) and Diana (Jada Harris) head back home after being abandoned by Atticus (Jonathan Majors), Leti (Jurnee Smollett), and Montrose (Michael K. Williams). But while on the way home, Diana found George's (Courtney B. Vance) map so Hippolyta tried to find answers.

She's been suspecting the trio ever since their return from Ardham. Hippolyta never got the answer about the real cause of death of her husband. Now, she'll be heading to Ardham to find it out for herself. It's interesting to see what would be her reaction once she discovers the truth.

In addition, Lovecraft Country episode 5 sees Atticus unleashing his pent up rage after he discovered that Montrose betrayed them. The situation leaves Leti deeply disturbed, and it sends Montrose into the comforting arms of his secret lover.

In the previous episode, Montrose killed Yahima (Monique Candelaria) to stop Atticus from deciphering the magic. But then, the latter didn't take this as a sign of goodwill from his father. There's a lot of bad blood between them and this could further complicate the situation.

While their trip to Boston seemed to thaw some ice, Montrose's act of betrayal makes things worse now. But aside from this conflict, Tree (Deron J. Powell) seemingly insinuates some relationship between Montrose and Sammy (Jon Hudson Odom).

Lovecraft Country episode 5 airs on Sunday, Sept. 13, on HBO.
