Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's future away from the royal family isn't a done deal yet as the couple's terms with Queen Elizabeth will undergo a review in six months, a royal expert said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex might be adjusting to their new life as financially-independent working royals. After buying a house via mortgage in California and acquiring a massive deal with Netflix, Prince Harry and Meghan seem set on succeeding outside of the royal fold.

However, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that their agreement with the Queen isn't done. Speaking with Daily Express, Fitzwilliams said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a unique case and their situation as non-working royals will be reviewed or renewed by the end of March 2021.

Following the bombshell announcement that they are stepping back as senior royals, Prince Harry sat with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Prince William at the Sandringham summit. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex initially wanted to still carry out their royal duties on behalf of the Queen, while looking for other opportunities. However, what they wanted would not work out for the Firm.

Instead, the Sussex pair was stripped of their HRH titles while Harry lost all of his military affiliations and duties. In exchange, the couple was allowed to pursue ventures that would enable them to earn a substantial private income.

Their transition period to live abroad and seek employment outside of the Firm was subjected to a review after a year. Royal observers said that the Queen kept the door open for Harry and Meghan's return in case they realize that life outside of the royal umbrella wasn't for them.

The royal commentator also said that the review was also necessary to see "what's working and what's not working" in their arrangement. No one in the royal family has this agreement with the Queen and it could go either way in the next six months.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan continue to be more visible in Hollywood and network among the rich and the famous. According to E! News, they will appear at a special TV broadcast of TIME's 100 Most Influential People on ABC alongside John Legend, Trevor Noah and Kumail Nanjiani. The show will air on Sept. 22.

Prince Harry and Meghan will also start producing for Netflix and the streamer's CEO Reed Hastings said that their films or TV shows will be the content to watch out for in 2021. But, will this contract still be in effect if they Sussex couple's agreement with Queen Elizabeth is rescinded by March?
