John David Washington is undoubtedly one of the hottest actors in the industry today. After his star-making performance in BlacKkKlansman, Washington went on to play the lead in Christopher Nolan's Tenet.
Not surprisingly, people are now wondering if Washington will eventually make the move into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, Washington already has an idea on which comic book character he could portray and it could mean he would take on the major role of Reed Richards in the planned Fantastic Four reboot.
There is little doubt that the Fantastic Four franchise is one of the best known Marvel properties and Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic is one of the most recognizable heroes in pop culture. Reed has already been played by several actors like Alex Hyde-White, Ioan Gruffudd, and Miles Teller.
Interestingly, it looks like a new actor will be brought in to play Mister Fantastic in the planned Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of Fantastic Four now that the property belongs to Disney. So what are the chances that Marvel Studios will cast Tenet star John David Washington as Reed Richards in the remake?
John David Washington recently spoke to Nerd Reactor where he was asked if there was any comic book character in particular that he would like to portray. Interestingly, Washington stated that he hasn't decided on that just yet.
"There's so many," Washington said. "I think it depends on who's asking, what director wants to do it with me. We'll see, I want to stay open. I don't want to box myself in."
Not surprisingly, the host wanted to get a better answer by asking John David Washington how he would feel if Marvel boss Kevin Feige asked him to play Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four reboot. Washington had a cool and humble response.
"Wow, I'd say, 'Well, thank you for having me, thank you for taking this meeting where do I sign?" Washington said.
It's no surprise that John David Washington is eager to take the role of Reed Richards. After all, Mister Fantastic is the leader of the Fantastic Four which is comprised of Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing.
For now, Marvel Studios has yet to make an official announcement about casting the roles in the Fantastic Four reboot. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that the studio will consider John David Washington for the role of Reed Richards. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
