It's no secret that Avatar 2 is one of the first movies to resume production after COVID-19 and it looks like the filming process is getting heated, at least for the cast and crew. New images from the set of the James Cameron film reveals that the humans will once again be going after the residents of Pandora in the upcoming sequel.

Earlier this year, Avatar 2 had to be put on hold due to COVID-19. However, that hasn't stopped the cast and crew from returning to work in New Zealand since the country declared that they are free of the pandemic.

Although the production team needed to stay in quarantine for 14 days before they could get back to filming, it didn't take long before it was confirmed that the movie is now being shot. Interestingly, one of the more recent set photos reveal an epic battle between the humans who are trying to return to Pandora and the Na'vi who simply want to live in peace.

The set photos from Avatar 2 were shared by producer Jon Landau, who has been actively providing updates on the film on his official Instagram account. Not surprisingly, the latest update confirms that humans will still play a major role in the sequel. Unfortunately, this only means another battle with the Na'vi who continue to try and protect their home.

The photo feature Garrett Warren, the Second Unit Director as he gives stuntman Steve Brown some pointers about the scene they are about to shoot. The lower picture shows Warren and Second Unit DP Richard Bluck filming a shot of the stuntmen who portray the humans in the film in action. Check out the images here.

Fans already have an idea of what will happen in Avatar 2. It has already been revealed that the movie will follow Jake Sully's family and their new efforts to work with another tribe in Pandora. Although there were initial speculations that the film will focus solely on the Na'vi, it looks like the humans will be back on the planet with new intentions to take over. Needless to say, it's an exciting idea that has people looking forward to the sequel.

Avatar 2 will bring back Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald. It has also been confirmed that Sigourney Weaver will return but is set to play a completely different character. The movie is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022.
