Starting on Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers are playing for the title in the NBA Finals and win or lose, the team is expected to continue their campaign for excellence. So, expect Frank Vogel to continue scouting for talents in the offseason and Derrick Rose could prove to be an interesting acquisition.

The battles next campaign will be harder than before and the Lakers can use the help to continue winning. If the team is searching for a guard that can win games then Rose is nothing short of a solid candidate.

The former MVP is a free agent in the season break and he is still searching for that first NBA ring. There is no chance that Rose will win a title with the Detroit Pistons so a golden opportunity to play for a team that can shoot for the moon, the 31-year-old veteran will surely grab.

According to Jonathan Kiernan of Fansided, the Lakers should consider picking Rose in the open market and there will be benefits to reap.

"Rose would be the starting point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers and while he is a former MVP, expectations will be curtailed as he won't need to be the focal point of the team anymore, he will be a contributor who will help the Lakers immensely," Fadeaway World reported Kiernan as saying.

Also, such a move will allow the Lakers to keep on their tradition of giving second chances to players sidelined by injuries and other worries to prove they still have it. Signing Rose will be a reminder that the Lakers opened the door for the likes of DeMarcus Cousins and J.R. Smith to continue showcasing their skills in the league.

But to be clear, Rose with the Lakers is not about the charity. The guy can play a high-level of basketball and he can win too.

The Chicago native will give LeBron James a good breathing room. He can handle the ball well and he can direct the plays on the floor, which should allow The King to focus on other things that will win the game.

If required, Inquisitr said Rose is a scoring option and a reliable one. And his production also includes sniping from beyond the arc, which for the Lakers will be a welcome dimension on the scoring department.

In the past years, Rose's career was plagued by injuries that limited his potentials season after season. But the veteran managed to overcome and boasts of better health that allows him to play even more competitively.

Time is not favor of Rose but he can still unlock many things that he can do, and hopefully, the Lakers will give him the platform to exit the game in a blaze of glory.
