It will be a busy offseason for the Minnesota Timberwolves and two of the most pressing questions that the team needs to deal with is what to with the No. 1 pick and the future of Karl-Anthony Towns. For the latter, there are talks of possible trade discussions with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Wolves are said to be ready to send Towns packing in exchange for Clint Capela, John Collins, De'Andre Hunter, and a likely draft pick. According to Nate Ackert of Fansided, the deal will allow both teams to address the perceived issues on their respective rosters.

The Wolves, for instance, would be getting assets that will boost their offense and defense, and this will be mostly due to Capela and Collins coming in, Ackert wrote.

"Capela would undoubtedly be a defensive upgrade from Towns. John Collins would be a great fit for the Wolves offensively, showing the ability to spread the floor at the 4," Inquisitr reported Ackert as saying.

The Hawks, in turn, will get hold of a certified All-Star that could increase the team's chance of securing in the NBA Finals next season. Towns teaming up with Trae Young should be worth the trouble for the Hawks, who will need to let go of their core talents for the Wolves' star - considered a gem both in the offensive and defensive ends.

However, Towns and Young doing great things in Atlanta will not be automatic. The chemistry between the two will take time to build up, and they will need to be solid before posing a serious challenge to the current leading teams in the Eastern Conference, among them the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and the Finals-bound Miami Heat.

These scenarios though are still speculative as it appears that the Wolves are locked on the task on getting it right when it comes to choosing the No. 1 pick this coming November. And according to CBS Sports, it seemed impossible for Minnesota to allow the departure of Towns in the offseason.

The team is more inclined to move forward with the big man as a cornerstone of the franchise. For the Wolves, Towns will be leading the pack and he will be collaborating closely with D'Angelo Russell, acquired when Andrew Wiggins was shipped to the Golden State Warriors in a trade deal.

As for who will be the Wolves top pick in the draft, it is a toss between Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball, and per the same report, it seemed Ball will be getting the love from Minnesota.

But what actually would happen to the No. 1 pick remains a big question mark. The Wolves are still weighing things and just trying to be extra careful on using this asset, not wanting to screw up that would haunt them in the seasons to come.
