Despite "PUBG" Corporation's efforts, it appears that the ban imposed by the Indian government on "PUBG Mobile" might not be revoked, according to a new report.
Following the ban on the popular battle royale game in India, the South Korean firm PUBG Corporation announced that it would sever Tencent's rights to publish the game in the region. The company also promised that it is looking for ways to deliver gaming experience to "PUBG Mobile" players in India in the future. Unfortunately, Reuters' recent report claimed that the Indian government is firm on its resolve of not allowing its constituents to access the game in the country.
The report revealed that despite the new ownership structure, "PUBG Mobile's" the violent nature, which has been the cause of many complaints, remains. A spokeswoman for PUBG Corporation said that it is closely reviewing India's concerns and assured that it is willing to work on anything that required improvement. It has also been talking to Jio Platforms, a digital unit of Indian behemoth Reliance Industries, to bring back the popular mobile game to its biggest market in the world.
PUBG Mobile was among the 118 Chinese-associated mobile apps that were banned by India earlier this month. According to India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the apps were banned because they gather data and pose threat to the country's national security. Critics view the country's move as a maneuver to pressure Chinese tech companies after several months of stand-off between the two countries over the disputed Himalayan border.
PUBG Corporation worked on ways to get the ban for "PUBG Mobile" lifted in India. However, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology reiterated that the popular multiplayer mobile title's ban in the country is "permanent for now." Based on Reuters' report, it appears that the reason behind the ban has little to do with "PUBG Mobile" being a Chinese app.

It seems that the game will not be returning to app stores in India anytime soon. However, the team behind the popular battle royale game would definitely find ways to make sure that "PUBG Mobile" could return to India. The game is considered as a phenomenon in the country.
The name "PUBG Mobile" over time has become synonymous with mobile gaming in India. It has been downloaded 50 million times with 33 million active users. The game is classified as one of the unicorn mobile games in the region by AppAnnie. It is also considered as the only heavy hitter gaming app in India.
