Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 has just brought us to the far future but the show is hardly slowing down. CBS All Access has just renewed the series for Season 4 and the cast and crew are already expected to begin production as soon as possible.

The third season of Star Trek: Discovery has just started with an awesome premiere that didn't waste time in setting the pace for Michael Burnham. In 'That Hope Is You, Part 1', Michael dropped into the year 3188 through a wormhole and her Red Angel suit immediately bumps into a ship being piloted by Cleveland 'Book' Booker. The collision forces both of them to crash and when they meet, Michael learns what happened to the Federation after all this time.

Interestingly, Michael Burnham learns about an event called "The Burn" where the crystals powering ships into warp speed suddenly become unstable. This left several ships, including that of the Federation, lost and disconnected from their peers. However, there is hope yet to recover some people, including the Discovery crew, and bring them to the future.

It may take a few more episodes before Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 finally brings the rest of the crew of Discovery to the future. In the meantime, the cast and showrunners had some awesome news for Trekkies who can't wait to find out what happens next.

A new announcement video posted on the official Star Trek Twitter account features Sonequa Martin-Green and Doug Jones along with showrunners Michelle Paradise and Alex Kurtzman sharing the good news. In the video, Martin-Green points out that she is very excited to be reunited with the cast and crew. Additionally, Jones stated that he is looking forward to being reunited with his Discovery family.

This is very exciting news considering that the current season was somehow delayed due to COVID-19. Luckily, it looks like production will start immediately and everyone will need to follow safety protocols when they start filming. Needless to say, it's great news knowing that Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 is truly happening and could premiere immediately next year.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 has just premiered on CBS All Access with the episode 'That Hope Is You, Part 1'. The next episode is titled 'Far From Home' and will be released on October 22. In addition to that, Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 is set to begin production on November 2.
