MacGyver season 5 hasn't started filming as of this writing. Despite that, viewers have been getting updates about what lies ahead in the CBS series. While everyone isn't back to work right now, we know that a new showrunner, Monica Macer, is on board.
Some cast members have been sharing about what's coming in MacGyver season 5, as well. For instance, Lucas Till, who plays the titular role, seemed to be very excited about the journey of his character moving forward.
In one of his latest Twitter post, the actor expressed his emotions during the virtual writers' room meeting. He noted that listening to the talented "mothergyvers" spilling the beans on what's coming is the highlight of his 2020.
Perhaps, MacGyver season 5 will further explore all sides of the titular character, whether it be his intelligence, his ability to be a great friend, and his ingenuity. There is also a possibility that his romantic life will be addressed.
Yet, it should be noted that there are a few episodes left in season 4. The fourth installment was originally commissioned for a total of 19 episodes. However, the series was forced to shut down earlier this year due to the global health crisis.
There are still six episodes left, and these stories will be incorporated in the early run of the new season. The series will tie up some of the loose ends first before diving into the new chapter. The fifth installment will pick up the events in the alternative season 4 finale.
Meanwhile, the writers' room shared on Twitter a script tease of MacGyver season 5. They shared a photo with a quote: "I know that expressing your feelings can be scary, but go on, you try." The caption noted that it's a line of dialogue from an upcoming script, though they didn't tease who's saying it.
The quote could mean a lot of things in the story. It might be a reference to a sentimental scene between two characters, or is something that is said by a villain. Aside from the script tease, the premiere episode is, reportedly, titled "Telescope + S-218 + Amplifier + Frenemies + Fog."
As for the release date of MacGyver season 5, nothing is officially confirmed at the moment. Production for the series hasn't kicked off as of yet, so there's still uncertainties regarding its premieres. But, it is speculated to air at some point in fall, alongside Blue Bloods season 11 and Magnum P.I. season 3.
