Mike Pence and Kamala Harris faced off in the U.S. election's only vice presidential debate. The event "matters" because of President Donald Trump coronavirus infection, according to BBC.
The opponents will be second in line for the Oval Office. They "sparred" over the administration's COVID-19 response, police reform, climate change and the Supreme Court. The debate, which lasted for 90 minutes, made history as Joe Biden's ticket mate became the first Black and South Asian woman to participate, according to CNN.
While the spotlight was on Harris observers on social media gave Pence the debate.

Others said Harris won the debate. "Harris won...clearly. I'm not even an American, I just have ears and eyes. Sorry. I was on the fence but clearly not after tonight," one Twitter user said.
"If by facts you mean lies then, yes, (Pence) was great. And if polite you mean he ignored the moderator, refused to answer questions that were asked, and went over time and interrupted the other candidate, he was amazing," one said.
"I'm so sorry for you. You think ignoring time limits, rudely talking over his opponent, lying constantly, and not answering any of the questions is a home run? If my husband acted like that I would be horribly embarrassed and humiliated," another said.
