Barack Obama congratulated LeBron James on social media after his team won the NBA Championship. He tagged the basketball star on his post, wherein he called him his "friend."

He said that he is "proud" of James' fourth title and fourth Finals MVP award. After mentioning the honors, he added that the athlete has surpassed the hype after seventeen seasons.

The former U.S. President, also, touted James' actions as an "extraordinary leader." Aside from his leadership inside the court, he added that the basketball star has continued his battles in the "public arena," where he works on various social issues.

LeBron James retweeted Barack Obama's post and shared his reaction. The Lebron Wire reported that the athlete thanked the former American leader, whom he, also, referred to as his "friend." He, later on, stated that he "truly appreciates" Obama's friendship and words toward him.

Reports noted that the public was in "awe" after witnessing James' "impressive performance." Alongside the challenges that the season faced due to the coronavirus pandemic, the association, also, experienced a few hurdles amid the protests.

While Barack Obama authored a heartfelt post for his friend, Donald Trump had a very different thought about the matter. An hour after the former U.S. President congratulated LeBron James, the incumbent leader shared an article from Breitbart News, noting that the NBA Finals Finale viewership crashed "nearly" 70 percent.

The headline, also, pointed out a "random Sunday night" football game beat the final game of the series in terms of numbers. Trump captioned the post and shared that there was "zero interest" toward the game, according to Lakers Daily.

The publication said that the U.S. President's tweet was a "typical move" considering that he seemingly has a "vendetta" against athletes who advocate for social justice issues. Unlike Barack Obama, Donald Trump had an ongoing rift on social media with LeBron James.

The two personalities have been throwing out shades toward each other for years now. Trump took his shot at James last week and even called him a "spokesman" for the Democrats.

While the athlete usually responds to the criticisms made by the U.S. President, he, reportedly, took the high road and did not address the comments. It is, also, unlikely, that he will make one following his and his team's win on Sunday.

Several netizens, later on, chimed in at the comment section of Barack Obama's post. Many of them expressed how much they miss him in the Oval Office, while others thanked him for his warm words.
