Barack Obama recently received a challenge from the Chess Grandmaster, Hikaru Nakamura. On Twitter, the chess prodigy invited the former U.S. President for a chess match to raise funds for Joe Biden and ActBlue. He asked whether the American leader would be interested in it, adding that his "direct messages" are open for his acceptance of the invite.

Nakamura explained in his post that he saw U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitch doing her own promotion, and playing Among Us with various streamers. This, then, sparked the idea of a chess match between him and Obama, according to DotEsports.

Reports, later on, noted that Ocasio-Cortez's stream on the platform incurred over 400,000 viewers, making it one of the "most-watched" materials in the history of Twitch. It, also, allowed the U.S. rep to promote her campaign in encouraging the public to vote on November 3.

Many individuals seemingly loved the idea of Barack Obama and Hikaru Nakamura facing each other for a live chess match. Several netizens expressed their excitement over the matter, especially if the former U.S. President accepts the offer.

This would actually become "so cool," one Twitter user said. "Good Initiative Hikaru!!," another added.

The post has since received more than 7,300 likes and 580 retweets. Hundreds of responses have, also, continued to arrive on the thread.

But, despite these things, Obama has yet to respond publicly. He has not accepted the invite nor the offer yet. It remains unclear, though, whether he has already seen Nakamaru's challenge.

In previous years, Barack Obama became the center of many headlines, alongside his skills in playing chess. Many seemingly believe that he is a "known chess player."

On Quora, many netizens expressed their opinions and thoughts about the matter. One user claimed that the former U.S. President learned the game after his grandfather and stepfather taught him.

There are, also, others who stated that he previously met the World Champion, Viswanathan Anand. However, no pictures came to light featuring the "encounter."

Other Quora users argued, though, that it is not Barack Obama who is great at playing chess. Instead, they claimed that it is Michelle Obama who is, indeed, a better player.

A netizen, then, shared on the same platform that the former First Lady started playing it when she was young. While many people continued to hail her husband's skills toward the game, all the references, reportedly, link back to Michelle.
