Elon Musk is not running out of things to hype about Tesla. The Cybertruck and the Semi surely made the headlines and in recent weeks, the Tesla CEO trumpeted how the Full Self-Driving feature of his electric vehicles will prove a game-changer. And now, the spotlight is on the Solar Roof, which Musk said is a killer product.

Musk first boasted about the Solar Roof in 2016 and the years that followed were mostly about making it better before the technology's best version is released. Improvements have been achieved in the past years but Musk hinted that the product is ready to explode in 2021.

"Solar Roof is a killer product. This will become obvious next year," Teslarati reported the company chief as saying during Tesla's Q3 2020 earnings call.

Musk appeared quite optimistic that his firm's take on the shingles will again serve as a huge disruption, and he has reasons to make such a bold prediction. As part of the company's Q3 report, Tesla revealed that Solar Roof installation has become faster as the process can now be completed in a day and a half.

Also, Musk reported that Tesla's solar deployment made a huge leap in the third quarter of 2020, registering 57MW in the period, which is over 100% jump from the previous quarter. As far as Solar Roof is concerned, the company chief said deployments have grown sequentially.

The indicators are apparent that Tesla is ramping up on Solar Roof and Teslarati said, there is no stopping Musk from achieving his goal for his advertised killer product. That's because Solar Roof has no clear competition at the moment and the horizon is not showing that a serious challenger will emerge to give Tesla a good fight.

To be clear though, the Solar Roof deployment is not all smooth since the product's unveiling but Tesla seemed determined to make that big push in the coming months. First on the list of the company is to gun for a significant boost in capacity and to do that, Tesla will require more helping hands.

The company's recruitment efforts for Solar Roof have been heating up and Electrek reported that vacant posts were set to be filled up for the planned deployments in the United States and Canada. Around 200 new roofers are targeted to be absorbed soon, which should point to Musk's intention of indeed disrupting the solar industry next year and doing it big.

Solar Roof is certainly an attractive proposition. It is a high-tech package that offers a two-in-one solution. The product answers the call for a house's need for a more than decent and even attractive roofing. But most importantly, Solar Roof is a tool to generate a sustainable form of energy, which Musk loves to sell as a clean investment to the future.
