Laura Benanti joins the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot. HBO Max is now busy at work, building the return of the much-loved teen drama series on TV with a whole new cast, plot, and more.

The Gossip Girl reboot will still be based on the book by Cecily von Ziegesar, like the original late 2000s drama. It will feature a brand new story, eight years after its parent show ended.

Here, a whole new generation of New York school teens will get to know the Gossip Girl site's social surveillance, Devdiscourse noted.

Deadline first revealed then news Benanti would be joining the reborn show. Later, the 41-year-old actress confirmed it on social media.

Benanti now used the famed New York City investigators' signature sign-off, "Xoxo, Gossip Girl." According to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Joshua Safran called the singer's coming a "dream come true."

It has yet to reveal what will be Benanti's role in the Gossip Girl reboot, just like other stars. However, she will be joining the likes of Emily Alyn Lind, Tavi Gevinson, Whitney Peak, Eli Brown, and Jonathan Fernandez.

Jason Gotay, Savannah Smith, Zion Moreno, and Jordan Alexander are also part of the cast. The upcoming TV series will be composed of 10 episodes, made by the original creators, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

Anyhow, Screenrant noted Lind is the only one on the show who has an official character so far. She will be playing the role of Audrey, a teenager who has been stuck in a serious relationship for a long time.

Now that she is free, she will be spreading her wings and ready to experience the single life again in the Gossip Girl reboot. By the looks of it, the series revival will tackle the same issues as the original show did.

The first TV adaptation of Gossip Girl aired from 2007 to 2012 on The CW. It ran for six seasons, featuring the original cast Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, and Chace Crawford.

Safran will continue to be the Gossip Girl reboot's writer and producer, just like the original series. Fans will once again hear Kristen Bell, who narrated the first show throughout its run, as the new series' narrator.

It will be produced by Warner Bros Television and CBS Television Studios. Its official release date is yet to be announced.
