Kate Middleton is fond of wearing shades of blue and as a member of the royal family, who is married to the future King of England, Prince William, the color is by no means picked on a whim.

According to My London, there's a psychological explanation, and perhaps an economic reason, for Kate Middleton's blue outfits. The color of choice is apparently reserved for people of importance because blue paint, lapis lazuli, is the most expensive color during ancient times.

Lapis Lazuli became a status symbol and was also described as a regal color, hence the name Royal Blue. That distinction stuck that now even politicians, dignitaries, and businessmen also choose blue because it looks dignified, classic, and flattering.

In the last week, Kate appeared in a matching blue suit with her husband, Prince William, as they honored the healthcare workers of the NHS for the Pride of Britain Awards. Blue is the color for the NHS because it apparently represents "stability, peace, wisdom and serenity." Per Hello, these are the ideals people need during this uncertain pandemic.

Kate also wore a blue dress, along with the rest of the Cambridge family, when they participated in the Clap for Carers tribute to the frontliners in April. The following month, the Duchess of Cambridge joined the rest of the royal family led by Prince Charles in a video conference for honor nurses and everyone also wore something blue.

Kate also picked a light blue long sleeve top when she met with a Scout Group for some outdoor camping activities last September. During her visit to the University of Derby in October to speak to college kids and check on how they are coping with the school during the pandemic, the Duchess of Cambridge had on a dusty blue pullover.

Whether she's in a relaxed or formal vibe for her royal engagements, Kate's style shines as she mixes and matches different blue outfits for various occasions. However, there is apparently one color that the Duchess of Cambridge will not wear.

Gabriella Winters, a color analyst, said that orange is a color that does not flatter Kate's skin tone and she apparently knows this. So, she doesn't wear a lot of orange or rust-colored clothes.

Psychologist and Emotional Freedom Techniques expert Dena Przbyla said that the color orange has a few negative connotations, such as superficiality, exhibitionism, and inexpensive. The darker shades of orange also denotes pride, tension and aggression so it might be why Kate Middleton avoids clothes in this color.
