Stargirl season 2 has been sharing updates about what's coming next in the story. We know that two new Big Bads are coming and both of them could cause chaos in a different way. Now, another new character will emerge, though it's uncertain whether he's a friend or foe.
Recently, Entertainment Weekly reported that Jim Gaffigan is going to be part of the upcoming Stargirl season 2. The comedian is set to voice the CGI character named Thunderbolt, who comes from the mysterious land of Bahdnesia.
Thunderbolt is a pink imp, who is said to be magical, fun-loving, and electrical. He could grant people's wishes, as well. He is "extremely powerful" and the wishes he grants usually comes with a lot of trouble than the wish-asker would expect.
Even though Thunderbolt carries constant supernatural disasters, his heart has always been in the right place. He has lost a lot of friends throughout his long existence and has been wounded a lot of times. He is someone who experienced his fair share of tragedy.
In the comics, Thunderbolt was trapped inside a pen for 10 years. Back in season 1, Courtney (Brec Bassinger) stole a pink pen from the Justice Society of America. Pat (Luke Wilson) warned her that the pen is powerful and it's a dangerous weapon that shouldn't be unleashed.
Gaffigan casting in Stargirl season 2 means that someone may have intentionally -- or accidentally -- clicked the pink pen. The biggest concern here is that it might fall into the wrong hands, such as Cindy (Meg DeLacy), who's seeking revenge. She could use it to get whatever she wants.
Meanwhile, as mentioned, two new Big Bads are coming in the new installment. Nick Tarabay is going to be a series regular and will be playing the role of Eclipso. He is one of the biggest foes Courtney and the rest of the JSA members have to take so far.
Eclipso is a terrifying villain since he's an ancient entity of corruption and vengeance. He is dangerous compared to other members of the Injustice Society of America. He could expose other people's flaws and he enjoys the sinful and impure that feeds off humanity's dark side.
Jonathan Cake, on the other hand, will play the recurring role of The Shade in Stargirl season 2. He's been teased in the season 1 finale already, and his presence brings something more sinister moving forward. What makes him different from Eclipso is that he's the "most powerful and threatening of them all".
Stargirl season 2 is slated to come out in 2021.
