The way Paul Pogba plays this season is best represented by the performance so far of Manchester United. The Red Devils are not on top of the Premier League table and part of the blame is pointed to Pogba. The Frenchman is not exactly in the best of form.

When United suffered defeat against Arsenal at Old Trafford, Pogba made the news. His error allowed the Gunners to score a 1-0 win, and from there the star's inconsistency became the focus of critics.

Fortunately for the team, the match against Everton ended in a win but Pogba started from the bench and the assessment from pundits - his presence during the away game hardly mattered. But Phil Neville begged to disagree and his verdict after the last outing points to further disappointment for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side if the Frenchman's game will not pick up soon.

"I still think it's absolutely disgraceful that Pogba can't get in that team ... For United to win a league, for United to be successful, for United to play the style of football that Ole wants them to play then Pogba has to play," said the former United defender, and per the report by Metro.

While acknowledging that Pogba has lingering issues that prevent him to play at an optimal level, Neville pointed out that the 27-year-old is the best midfielder in the United roster. Solskjaer will need to deploy the star on the pitch more often if the plan is to win more games and titles, added the pundit.

Neville said United contending for a championship win will greatly depend on whether Pogba, who is the club's most expensive player, will play more often and he would perform as expected.

The current situation at Old Trafford is a complete contrast to what happened when football games were resumed in June and Pogba returned to active duty after months of struggle with injuries. During that time, the Frenchman earned praises as his partnership powered the Red Devils to a third-place finish in the Premier League.

Likewise, Pogba won credits for returning his side to compete in the Champions League.

The team was looking forward to a better campaign after going trophyless for the past three seasons but the performance so far seemed to indicate further disappointments. Amid all these, it's apparent that Solskjaer can no longer count on Pogba, according to Forbes.

The United manager opted to drop the midfielder from the squad in the past matches that he needed to win, and the move paid off. Solskjaer's recent decisions appeared to make clear that Pogba no longer enjoys the confidence of the Norwegian boss, the report added.

Forbes said Solskjaer's patience has run out and it looked like he is unwilling to wait anymore that somehow Pogba will find the reason why is with United. And Solskjaer afforded his star the chance to prove he is worth his salt so the manager cannot be blamed for starting in a new direction.
