Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) has a lot to deal with entering Station 19 season 4. The latest installment picks up the events in the season 3 finale, with her mother being at the center of everything. Elena (Patricia De Leon) was presumed dead but an unexpected twist revealed that she's actually alive.
Andy's storyline will be dramatic in Station 19 season 4. She's going to question everything about her mother, as well as why her father, Pruitt (Miguel Sandoval), hides the truth from her. She believed that Elena was dead a long time ago so her re-emergence shook her to the core.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ortiz discussed what's coming for her character now that she's aware that her mother is still alive and out there. While the actress didn't give complete details, she teased that Andy checks herself into a psychiatric hospital.
Ortiz explained that the big revelation is "extremely intense and shocking" for Andy. Everything is going to be dramatic for her, and while dealing with her personal issues, she needs to take on the pandemic, as well. The early run of Station 19 season 4 will be challenging for her.
Andy will investigate the truth behind her mother's disappearance and why she decided to leave her. She may also question why Elena didn't reach out to her after all these years to inform her that she's still alive. Since Pruitt is now dead, she has to figure out everything on her own.
In addition, Andy and Sullivan's (Boris Kodjoe) marriage will be affected because of what's happening. They got married before Pruitt died to fulfill one of his last wishes. In the same interview, Kodjoe explained that there are complications when it comes to his character's struggles with opioids.
There are a lot of challenges that they need to handle in Station 19 season 4. Despite these issues, Kodjoe noted that Andy and Sullivan love each other very much and they wanted to be together. Their marriage will be tested, though the actor hinted that the two won't let the obstacles break them apart.
Ortiz added that if Andy and Sullivan's relationship is perfect, it would be "boring." She explained that the traumatic challenges Andy and Sullivan have been facing make viewers appreciate how the couple comes together and how they work during the hard times.
Station 19 season 4 kicks off with its two-hour premiere on Thursday, Nov. 12, on ABC.
