Peaky Blinders season 6 might be returning on the screen after one of the series stars hints at its arrival. Paul Anderson, who plays the character of Arthur Shelby, teased that the latest installment is coming "soon" than fans expect.

Earlier this year, Peaky Blinders season 6 halted its production due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Since then, fans have been waiting for updates as to when the new episodes will be dropped. Now, Anderson's recent update made viewers even more excited about the show's return.

In his latest Instagram post, the actor shared artwork of his character Arthur Shelby with the caption "Season six #comingfknsoon." He also thanked everyone for patiently waiting for the next chapter, and added that it will be "worth it."

Fans were quick to comment on Aderson's post, though there are still skeptical about his update. Some thanked the actor for sharing the news and expressed their excitement, while others noted that they may have a different definition of the word "soon."

Previously, director Anthony Byrne said that Peaky Blinders season 6 was close to filming when the first lockdown occurred. He explained that it would be ideal for them to prepare everything again at the end of 2020 and they'll start shooting in early 2021.

Byrne added the schedule feels "achievable," though he has no idea whether or not it'll be followed. He further said that if they begin shooting in January 2021, they won't be able to finish everything until May or June. Then, another six months is needed for the editing process.

So even though Anderson teased that Peaky Blinders season 6 is coming "soon." Fans may still need to wait for a while in order to see new episodes dropping on BBC. Some suggest that the premiere could either be in late 2021 or early 2022.

As for the story itself, the sixth installment could see Arthur Shelby reuniting with his wife Linda Shelby's (Kate Phillips). Their marriage is in jeopardy after the latter tried to kill her husband in season 5. The question now is: will the two be able to reconcile?

Phillips told Digital Spy that she wasn't sure what's coming next to the story. But, she revealed that she won't be out of the picture even though she left in season 5 after the attempted murder. This means that she'll reunite with Arthur and she has to pay the consequences of her actions.

The actress added that Linda and Arthur have a lot of "unfinished business" and they need to deal with them in Peaky Blinders season 6. They share a child and their family ties make it even harder for Phillips' character to escape.
