The Golden State Warriors don’t have much flexibility in terms of finances, meaning they are unlikely to be in play for big-name players seeking a trade. James Harden and Russell Westbrook are looking for new homes but the Dubs hold little to no chance of getting either.

The Houston Rockets will want someone of the same or better quality in return. Packaging several players and assets could work too. Unfortunately, the Dubs only have several players they can offer. It is unlikely to be someone named Stephen Curry, Draymond Green or even Klay Thompson. Andrew Wiggins could make sense but Houston is unlikely to settle for the former top pick in exchange for the “Bearded One.”

Hence, the take of Shams Charania of The Athletic when he appeared on the “Load Management” podcast may be nothing more than exploratory. It never hurts to ask but expecting something to go down is simply wishful thinking for the Dubs and its followers.

It also raises questions on how Harden could co-exist with Curry, Thompson and Green. Most know he wants the all in his hands most of the time, something that may not work under head coach Steve Kerr.

A Harden coming could have boosted the Warriors' campaign though it may not turn out well. Hence, the only plausible teams where the 31-year-old may land is the Brooklyn Nets. It is no secret that they are the team strongly linked to the 2018 NBA Most Valuable Player and something could go down soon.

The Philadelphia 76ers are another team in play although Rockets owner Tillman Fertita is unlikely to oblige. He does not want to deal with the club’s new President of Basketball Operations, Daryl Morey. Morey used to be with the Rockets before moving to Philly recently.

So far, little has progressed with Harden’s request. Other teams could enter the fray but it may take much to pull the eight-time All-Star from the Rockets.

Also, it would be best to note that Kevin Durant alleges that he never spoke with Harden about coming to Brooklyn. He says that all of it was made up and that any player moves is up to management.

Durant acknowledges that he and Harden are friends and heard about the potential trade. However, he branded them as a made-up story and that he was focused on rehab.
