Prince Charles became a stepdad to two other children when he married Camilla Parker-Bowles in 2005. Tom Parker-Bowles and Laura Parker-Bowles Lopes are older than Prince William and Prince Harry, and they may reportedly receive royal titles once Prince Charles becomes the King of England.

According to reports, Prince Charles could change the status of his stepchildren and make them the duke or duchess once he ascends the throne. However, it's not clear if this will put Tom and Laura on equal footing as Prince Charles' daughters-in-law, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

After Camilla married Prince Charles, the Queen bestowed upon her the title of Duchess of Cornwall. However, her children from her first marriage to Andrew Parker-Bowles didn't gain royal titles.

In an interview on Good Morning Britain, Tom said that he and his sister are not keen on getting royal titles from the Queen because it's only their mother who became part of the royal family. The eldest child of Camilla also said that they are "common children" who are simply happy to just be in the sidelines.

But according to a history graduate and a royal fan on Quora, Tom and Laura will never get any royal titles since they are not royals by birth or marriage. The social status of Camilla's children, however, might rise once Prince Charles is King. They will be part of royal events.

It's long been discussed that Prince Charles plans to trim down the size of royal family members whose lifestyle and expenses are shouldered by the people. If Tom and Laura become official royals, they will need security offers, which will go against Charles' plan.

Tom works as an author and food critic, while Laura is an art curator and a journalist. Royal expert Katie Nicholl wrote in the book Harry and William that Laura and the Duke of Cambridge used to fight a lot when they were still younger because their ages were closer.

Apparently, Prince William blamed Camilla for their broken homes and for hurting his mother, Princess Diana. On the other hand, Laura would always defend Camilla and remind William that it was Prince Charles who ruined their lives.

Nicholl said that William and Laura both had a hard time accepting their parents' relationship. When Prince Charles would call their home, Laura would slam the receiver at the Prince of Wales without any care that he's the future king.

The step-siblings, however, eventually mellowed down as they grew up and matured. Laura's daughter, Eliza, was one of the flower girls at Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.
