MacGyver season 5 episode 1 is coming this weekend on CBS. Desi Nguyen (Levi Tran) and Riley Davis (Tristin Mays) will be the focus of the premiere as the two go on a specific mission. Here's what's coming for them in "Resort + Desi + Riley + Window Cleaner + Witness."
According to the synopsis of MacGyver season 5 episode 1, Angus "Mac" MacGyver (Lucas Till) and the team will be infiltrating a hotel which is being used as a hideout for criminals. While tracking these people down, they'll meet a woman who has vital information on Codex.
Desi and Riley were the ones who are tasked to locate this woman. In the sneak peek, Matty Webber (Meredith Eaton) gave the Phoenix Foundation members this new assignment. The two need to search for a woman named Paula, who might be in the resort, Zurich Grand.
In MacGyver season 5 episode 1, fans will see Desi and Riley infiltrating the mentioned resort, which has quite a history in the criminal world. They have to find Paula, who is the money manager and involved in both legal and illegal transactions of a particular man.
To get inside the resort, the two will be using different identities. They need to do whatever they can to get Paula on their side before she disappears forever. The latter's life is in danger, considering the information she has on Codex.
As for how the team will be involved, MacGyver season 5 episode 1 sees the titular character and the rest, ensuring Desi and Riley's safety. Also, Russ Taylor (Henry Ian Cusick) is one of the people responsible for constructing this mission.
The first promo already teased the undercover mission, along with action-packed scenes. But while the series focuses on intense moments, it's still going to deliver some personal stories. In fact, the second episode sees the team on a mission that is somehow connected to Russ.
In "Thief + Painting + Auction + Viro-486 + Justice," Desi orchestrates a heist while Russ becomes a bit emotional. The latter's former protégé was killed while keeping a bio-weapon. Now, the team must find it before falling into the wrong hands. So, Desi pulled off a heist before they could sell to a terrorist cell.
Meanwhile, the biggest problem for everyone is that the Codex is still out there. It makes the situation even complicated for Team Phoenix. The previous installment saw a lot of big losses along the way, and the new chapter could bring more dramatic moments and emotional scenes.
MacGyver season 5 episode 1 will be airing on Friday, Dec. 4, on CBS.
