Evander Holyfield wants that third fight with Mike Tyson to happen and it appears there has been progress. The 58-year-old former champion reveals that his camp has been talking to the side of Tyson and feels that a trilogy fight will be agreed on soon.

"I'm a very confident person," Evander said to TMZ Sports. "I think it's gonna happen."

This development comes not long after Holyfield called out Tyson, telling him to stop making excuses. He considered the Roy Jones Jr. exhibition fight a tune-up so the 54-year-old has no more excuses to duck him.

“My side tried to make the fight happen and we got nothing but excuses,” Holyfield said in an official release posted on Twitter by Aaron Bronsteter. “Now I can see why he wanted a tune-up fight before thinking about fighting me.”

In a previous post, it was mentioned how Tyson was lashing out at Holyfield’s backers. He believes that negotiations between the two sides have been stalling a trilogy fight.

However, “The Real Deal” offers a different side of the situation. That was until recently when he said that he is confident the fight will finally happen with talks headed in the right direction.

After his fight with Jones Jr. which ended in a draw, Tyson said he wants to fight again. He fought well and appeared ready to go on more rounds. He did not mention any names at that time. However, he did say that Jones Jr. should be back in the next event. Tyson did not exactly say that both should be in a rematch, meaning Jones could be facing someone else.

Of course, Jones was not yet ready to commit to fighting once more. He said he would consult his family first before making a decision.

But as far as Tyson is concerned, it appears he is ready to go. He prefers to do more exhibition fights – something he says is bigger than winning championships. Tyson prefers to fight and donate earnings to charities and causes.

Once a Tyson vs. Holyfield fight is sealed, that is expected to be an even bigger draw. Most know the history between the two, particularly that ear-biting incident in their second encounter.

Of course, all that is behind them and both just want to get in the ring and slug it out. Many felt Tyson won over Jones with his performance. It remains to be seen if he can do it again once a Holyfield third fight is officially announced.
