The Boys season 3 is premiering next year on Amazon Prime Video. The superhero drama has been one of the successful shows on the streaming platform. In fact, the third installment was ordered ahead of the season 2 official premiere. When the series returns, fans will see more stories surrounding Black Noir.

Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) is the silent member of The Seven and the most mysterious antagonistic superhero among the Supes. Until now, his face under the mask hasn't been shown. The good news is that The Boys season 3 will further explore the enigmatic character.

Black Noir has the ability to conceal his appearance behind a dark costume and possessed strength and agility. The character doesn't speak and virtually indestructible. Only a few things were known about him aside from the fact that he's allergic to peanuts.

In the penultimate of the second season, Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) used an Almond Joy to subdue him. It was confirmed that he's still alive despite what happened, albeit vegetative state. Fans will have the chance to learn more about him when The Boys season 3 arrives.

In a recent interview with TVLine, showrunner Eric Kripke discussed what's coming for Black Noir entering the third installment. He confirmed that they're going to explore more of the character, as they're "giving the fans what they want."

For now, however, it remains to be seen how Black Noir's backstory will be explored in the new season. In the comics, his backstory had an important part in the story. Yet, it is unknown whether the series will entirely use the source material -- or will alter some of it.

While his story in the comic is compelling, there is no guarantee that Kripke and the writers go in this direction. They could make some changes to make his backstory more appealing to the viewers. Fans need to wait and see what they've stored for the character moving forward.

Meanwhile, The Boys season 3 will introduce a new character. Previously, it was confirmed that Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles is going to portray the role of Soldier Boy. He's going to be the latest addition and the first celebrity superhero joining The Seven.

In a past interview with Variety, Kripke hinted that Jensen's character wouldn't be a "good guy." He came from a different era, and he's got his own ambition. His presence could also cause another problem for the leader of The Seven, Homelander (Antony Starr).

The Boys season 3 is slated for a 2021 premiere.
