Jill Biden faces new controversies these past few weeks following her husband's victory against Donald Trump. The latest talks about her largely involve her preferences when it comes to her titles.

Amid the discussions, the Daily Express unearthed an interview back in 2016, wherein the now-incoming First Lady shared about her unappreciation toward people calling her "Second Lady." She, later on, revealed what title she liked instead.

Speaking to Seth Meyers on his titular show, Late Night, Jill agreed to the host's assertions that she "did not appreciate" being called "Second Lady." When asked about her inclinations, she told him that "Captain of the Vice-squad" is much preferable.

While her response seemingly appears to be a quip, she did not explain her exact reasons. Joe Biden, however, shared that he did not have a preferred nickname inside the White House, as opposed to his wife.

Joe and Jill Biden served as the Vice President and Second Lady, respectively, under Obama's administration from 2008 up to 2016. In January 2021, they will return to the White House but, this time around, they will serve the public as the country's President and First Lady.

As the transition period continues, the former Second Couple continues to face controversies, as well, before the public. Jill recently received criticism from an essayist due to her preference for using her title as a "doctor."

Writing for the Wall Street Journal, Joseph Epstein urged the incoming First Lady to "drop the doc." He argues that Biden should stop "insisting" on the public referring to her as "Dr." because "her doctorate is meaningless," according to TMZ.

Epstein penned an op-ed article titled, Is There a Doctor in the White House? Not if You Need an M.D., wherein he explains why Jill Biden should drop the use of her doctorate title, adding that the subject is not an unimportant matter. He began by saying that "'Dr. Jill Biden' sounds and feels fraudulent."

The essayist, then, seemingly went on to slam the former Second Lady. He emphasized that Biden's degree is "an Ed.D., a doctor of education." He, later on, commented that she earned it through a "dissertation with [an] unpromising title."

TMZ reported that Jill Biden has not released an official response yet. But, the public has since voiced out their opinions, noting that Joseph Epstein continues to receive a "clap back" from netizens across various platforms.

Several other publications covered the same controversy, adding that the essayist, also, drew backlash from celebrities, politicians, and teachers. Some outlets even deemed him and his article as "misogynist" and "belittling."
