The 2021 refresh of the Tesla Model 3 came with a new headlight design, and this was true for some markets. By next year, this same update will become the standard and will be applied as well to the Model Y crossover.

Tesla's deliveries for both vehicle models in the first three months of 2021 will sport the new headlight design that promises a more powerful and accurate beam. The automaker indicated that the bump will be seen in all markets where the Model 3 and Model Y are available.

According to Electrek, the new setup will feature a more squarish pattern when compared to the previous headlights that came with the Model 3. Notably, the upgrade will include a lighting capability that is more defined than the previous versions.

The hardware change is expected to be followed by a firmware update as the enhancement is seen as part of Tesla's efforts to improve the safety features packed with the two EV models. Indeed, installing a lighting setup with future deliveries will make for a safer driving experience especially in low-light conditions.

The improvement has been seen in recent Model 3 and Model Y deliveries but per the same report, it will be the norm to follow in the first quarter of 2021.

"We are transitioning Model 3 and Model Y to a new headlight design, which is eventually going to be consistent across all variants, globally. By Q1 2021, we expect all Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to feature this new unit," the automaker was reported as saying.

The welcome step up on the hardware came following Tesla's decision to temporarily halt the production of specific vehicle models in Fremont, California for 18 days this holiday season. The break will begin on December 24 and it sparked rumors of an upcoming design change for both the Model S and Model X.

Unsurprisingly, the two Tesla car models have been getting greater attention lately due perhaps to their increasing level of popularity. That is expected about the Model 3 because it is the most affordable of Tesla's line of electric vehicles. The Model Y crossover, on the other hand, is the newest offering of the automaker so the excitement it generates is still high.

In line with this, Tesla is focusing on the two EV models to realize its target delivery of 500,000 units for 2020. The company is ramping up the Model 3 and Model Y production and to make sure that the vehicles will roll out in droves, freebies are being offered to would-be buyers.

Business Insider said that customers taking home the Model 3 and Model Y this December will get one year of free Supercharging access, and Tesla confirmed that the incentive is available for all dealerships in North America.
