Angelina Jolie has come across another set of controversy in her career. Following the confirmation of Patty Jenkins' biographical film, Cleopatra, with Gal Gadot playing the titular role, tabloids and magazines claimed that the Maleficent actress has become "livid" with the Wonder Woman star.
Gossip Cop checked the story to determine the authenticity and accuracy of the allegation. This came after unnamed insiders told the National Enquirer that Jolie felt "insulted" after losing her dream to play the character.
The tipsters added that she deemed Gadot to have "swooped in underneath her" and "stole" the iconic role. She has been, reportedly, attached to making a Cleopatra movie for nearly a decade but, it has now all gone to waste because of the DCEU actress.
The sources continued that Angelina Jolie had worked on the script and met with executives to materialize the project. Unfortunately, the producers and heads "tapped" Gal Gadot to play the character, making her the target of Jolie's "bitterness" and "resentment."
Gossip Cop, later on, tried to reveal the truth behind the allegations. However, no reliable sources could seemingly confirm the real situation between the two actresses.
Nevertheless, the reputed publication said that the tabloid likely wanted to "exploit" the upcoming film's increasing popularity, alongside the celebrities that are involved in the project. Besides, this is not the first time that tabloids and magazines utilized Angelina Jolie's name and the Cleopatra film.
Earlier in 2019, Cinema Blend released a report, covering the rumors about Angelina Jolie's supposed competition with Lady Gaga for the same titular role. At that time, there were reported confirmations that the film would push through without mentioning the final cast members.
Tipsters claimed that the Wanted star was preparing to land the role. But, considering the A Star Is Born actress's increasing "star power," the two may, reportedly, have to compete for the iconic role.
Reputed publications consequently dismissed the rumors and branded the stories as "false." As revealed, the Chromatica singer's reps stated that they had no knowledge of the singer working on or planning to be in a Cleopatra film.
Reports confirmed Gal Gadot's stint for Patty Jenkins' Cleopatra earlier in October. The Wonder Woman actress, reportedly, came up with the idea of the material, and decided to produce the film, as well, alongside her husband, according to Harper's Bazaar.
Gadot, also, released a statement about the matter on social media. She said that they plan to bring the film in a way the public has never seen before.
