Batwoman season 2 is going to be different from the first installment, mostly because a new version of the titular superhero would take on the iconic suit. Javicia Leslie will be playing Ryan Wilder, the new lead replacing Ruby Rose's Kate Kane.
Ahead of Batwoman season 2 official release date, The CW has been sharing a lot of information on what viewers can expect when it comes to Ryan Wilder. Now, more details have emerged, making fans excited with the arrival of the new lead.
Ryan Wilder is described as a "sassy, smart lesbian" who has a difficult past. Her life will drastically change after finding Kate Kane's Batsuit. She has been through a lot and survived the difficulties in the city, and she thinks the suit would help her become powerful.
At the same time, Gotham City is dealing with the sudden disappearance of Kate Kane. Most people believe that the superhero went elsewhere following her ultimate showdown between Commander Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and the Crows.
Kate Kate's disappearance also impacts Mary (Nicole Kang), Sophie (Meagan Tandy), Luke (Camrus Johnson), and even Alice (Rachel Skarsten). While all of them are trying to locate the whereabouts of the missing superhero, the False Face Society will tighten its grip on Gotham.
Everything gets even more dangerous when "Bruce Wayne" (Warren Christie) returns to wreak havoc, while Safiyah (Shivaani Ghai) shows up for revenge. Gotham needs a superhero as new sets of villains descend on the city. This is where Ryan Wilder comes into play and realized what the Batsuit could do.
In the previously-released clip of Batwoman season 2, Ryan Wilder can be seen wearing the superheroes costume, albeit alterations. She is preparing herself to take all the villainous elements down surrounding the city. All of the questions will be answered as the story progresses.
Batwoman season 2 will focus on introducing the new lead, though the early run will address what happened to Kate Kane. After wrapping up this storyline, fans will see how Ryan Wilder is different from the first version of the titular superhero.
It also looks like she discovered the Batsuit out of pure chance and this will change her life forever. Given that Ryan Wilder and Kate Kane were raised in a different environment, their ways of fighting bad guys won't be the same. Yet, they still have the same goal: protecting the people of Gotham city.
Batwoman season 2 is premiering on Sunday, January 17, 2021, on The CW.
