Gwen Stefani continues to become an "open book" before her fans and followers. In her recent interview, she opened up about her challenges and realizations, especially while raising her three kids.
Speaking to Zane Lowe in his podcast, the "Hollaback Girl" singer revealed her struggles with dyslexia. As it happened, she only discovered it after learning about her sons' diagnosis, according to Cheat Sheet.
Stefani said that learning about her condition is only one of the many things she learned about herself through having kids. She noted that "everyone has things that happen," adding that hers was her learning disorder.
She, also, shared some of her realizations upon the discovery. As speculated, she felt like most of her problems and struggles came from the said disorder.
Gwen Stefani continued that she "failed at school" during her younger years. Apart from being unable to keep up with her classmates, it was "hard" for her to function.
But, despite these things, the songstress had positive realizations about the matter. She stated that her brain "works in a different way," adding that it is "probably a gift that other people can't do."
As for her three sons, the "Cool" singer is not, reportedly, bothered at all. The Daily Mail said that she already have ways to help her three children "maximize their potential." She, also, explained that her sons have "incredible teachers and schools," noting that they do not "have to have shame about it."
The same publication, later on, explained that dyslexia is a "learning difficulty" that affects the life of one out of ten individuals. The condition mainly targets reading, writing, spelling, and organization, causing difficulties in academic success, self-esteem, and social-emotional development.
Apart from Gwen Stefani, several celebrities, also, suffer from the same illness. These include Tom Cruise, Orlando Bloom, and Holly Willoughby. But, in most cases, people living with dyslexia have other good skills in creative thinking and problem-solving.
The No Doubt artist shares three sons with her former husband, Gavin Rossdale. In their nearly 15 years of marriage, they welcomed their first child Kingston in 2006.
Two years later, the then-couple had another child, Zuma. Pop Sugar reported that Gwen Stefani and her former husband likely got their inspiration to name their son from a beach in Malibu.
In 2014, they welcomed their youngest, Apollo. The same publication said that his parents obtained his two middle names from his maternal and paternal grandmothers.
