Samsung gave Apple a run for its money when the South Korean tech company launched its new Galaxy series smartphones along with the Galaxy Buds Pro and SmartTag item tracker.

Apple may well have a big fight on its hands when Samsung launched its new Galaxy series smartphones, consisting of the S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra. The South Korean tech company also beat Apple to its item tracker launch when Samsung unveiled its Galaxy SmartTag alongside the unveiling of its new line of smartphones. Samsung also took the opportunity in launching the latest Galaxy Buds Pro earphones.

The latest additions of Samsung to its smartphone series feature new designs and edge-to-edge Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O displays. The Galaxy S21 model features a compact 6.2-inch display with a lightweight design, while the Galaxy S21+ model has a bigger battery and a larger display at 6.7 inches. The higher-end Galaxy S21 Ultra, on the other hand, features an improved display, ultra-wideband capabilities, Wi-Fi 6E9, and an overall better performance. It also delivers an "intelligent pro-grade camera system," and brings the S Pen experience to Galaxy S series users for the first time. In what many described as Samsung's "In-your-face" declaration to Apple, the South Korean tech company launched the Galaxy SmartTag during the event and also unveiled its new Galaxy Buds Pro earphones.

According to Samsung, all of its new Galaxy series smartphones have an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate with 8K video recording capability. The latest smartphones also adopted a state of the art Contour Cut Camera housing, allowing the module to blend into the metal frame of the device. The latest Galaxy series smartphones feature a highly improved, AI-powered triple-lens camera system, which Samsung says can intuitively assess different scenes and make the appropriate adjustments to its settings automatically. Other products launched by Samsung during the event are the Galaxy Buds Pro earphones and Galaxy SmartTag item trackers. The South Korean tech company says their latest earpiece offer users an "immersive sound" experience, improved call quality, IPX7 water resistance, enhanced connectivity, and an intelligent ANC.

Samsung also introduced its Galaxy SmartTag item tracker during the event that saw the launch of the latest Galaxy series smartphones and Galaxy Buds Pro earphones. The South Korean tech giant says that the Galaxy SmartTag low-energy Bluetooth item tracker allows users to easily and quickly find items based on the Bluetooth signal strength of its SmartThings Find app. Users can also get the item tracker to let out a sound so users can locate it immediately. Industry observers believe the SmartTag is Samsung's answer to Apple's long-delayed AirTags item tracker.

As for the Galaxy series smartphones' prices, they vary depending on technical configurations. The base model of the Galaxy S21 starts at $799.99, while the Galaxy S21+ starts at $999.99. You can also get a standard Galaxy S21 Ultra model for $1,199.99. According to Samsung, customers who ordered the smartphones can expect to receive them on January 29. For the Galaxy Buds Pro, customers can pre-order them now for $199.99, while those who want a Galaxy SmartTag can get one for $29.99.
