The Resident season 4 episode 5 is still a few weeks away from airing but NBC already shared some details on what lies ahead for some of the characters. Nic Nevin's (Emily VanCamp) storyline, in particular, is going to be one of the major focuses in "Home Before Dark."

In the second episode, it was revealed that Nic was pregnant. This is good news for her and her husband, Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry). However, their happiness might be short-lived as they're about to face a huge challenge in The Resident season 4 episode 5.

Nic and Conrad just got married in the premiere, which is one of the most memorable moments for both of them. The two have been through a lot, and they overcame the challenges in their relationship. But, even though they're already married, some problems are coming in their way.

For instance, Nic will be in danger in The Resident season 4 episode 5. The newlyweds are hopeful of becoming parents, but their plan is at stake due to an unexpected incident. Her life and the unborn baby's life were in jeopardy when a patient suddenly attacked her.

According to the synopsis, Nic was injured when a deranged patient attacked her during their last day at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. Now, the doctors and other medical staff are working together to save her life. The situation gets a little bit difficult, considering her pregnancy.

Conrad is going to be the most affected person here. His wife and his baby's lives were both in danger, and he needs to find a way to save them. The emotions will be high, and there'll be a lot of pressure not only for him -- but for other doctors, as well.

Aside from Nic and her baby, the entire Chastain Park Memorial Hospital is also in danger in The Resident season 4 episode 5. The synopsis notes that the hospital is on the verge of shutting down, largely because of the Red Rock's sale.

Conrad is doing everything that he can to save it and will try his last-ditch effort. Yet, other doctors are seemingly ready to let go of the facility as they're already planning for their next move. Clearly, most of the characters will be dealing with many things, especially Czuchry's character.

Two more episodes are coming before "Home Before Dark" comes into air. In episode 3, titled "Accidental Patient," Barrett Cain (Morris Chesnut) was put in danger after trying to be a hero at a crash scene. The doctors set aside their personal issues towards him and will try to save his life.

As for episode 4, "Moving on and Mother Hens," Conrad and Nic try to figure out how to tell the big news to everyone -- which is the latter's pregnancy. Also, Mina Okafor's (Shaunette Renée Wilson) visa is about to expire and she must decide on whether leaving or staying in the country.

The Resident season 4 episode 5 arrives on Tuesday, Feb. 9, on NBC.
