Chelsea formally welcomed Thomas Tuchel as the new man in charge at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. The German hit the ground running just hours after taking over from Frank Lampard and joined the Blues training session. His one clear message was Chelsea's young talents will be given due prominence.

The assurance from Tuchel was in response to the concern that the new coach would veer away from Lampard's practice of giving playing minutes to the club's academy graduates. On the contrary, the new boss promised that the Chelsea youngsters will continue to shine under his watch.

Tuchel's statement should be comforting to the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Reece James - all of whom flourished in the short 18 months that Lampard handled the Blues squad.

However, the new Chelsea manager will continue building up the frontline he inherited from Lampard. Last summer, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz were brought in from Bundesliga and Tuchel indicated that another center forward from Germany will be targeted for the coming summer, The Daily Mail reported.

The former Paris Saint-Germain manager identified Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund as a priority target in June. He is simply picking up from the same transfer plan revealed earlier by Lampard.

Haaland will prove a difficult and expensive signing for the Blues as the striker is tied with a long deal at Dortmund and his release clause is not expected to activate until 2022. The Norwegian is also hot on the radar of European giants with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool reportedly lined up to win the 20-year-old's signature.

Running after Haaland though should be the least of Tuchel's priorities. The easiest course ahead of the new Blues boss is to tap Chelsea's existing assets and it's an understatement that the club is brimming with exciting talents.

Chelsea started the season as among the top favorites to win the Premier League crown and for a reason. The Blues roster includes emerging stars such as Christian Pulisic, the Bundesliga sensations recruited by Lampard, and the senior members who are ready to deliver on tap.

In fact, the Chelsea squad can count on proven goalscorers who only require the guidance and confidence of the head coach. Leading this pack is Abraham and that's because he is the Blues' leading scorer in the season.

Despite being dependable, it seemed a mistake that Abraham was not given the appropriate appreciation. Goal said that was the case when Werner and Havertz came in, and likely Tuchel will make the same mistake by focusing on the Haaland signing.

Lampard erred by not having sufficient faith in Abraham and the report said Tuchel is in danger of taking on the same course if too much premium is given on talent not yet in the roster, thus overlooking an already available player.
