Michelle Obama and Barack Obama are some of the high-profile personalities who attended the inauguration last week. While the details of the moments from behind the scenes remain scarce, Amanda Gorman shared some of the shocking encounters she had with the former First Couple. The Daily Express reported that the 22-year-old is the youngest poet who participated and spoke at the historical event on January 20.
Speaking to one of her recent interviews, Gorman revealed that the former First Lady "kind of kept yelling" at her husband. She explained that Obama was urging the former U.S. President to "stop hugging others" and "stop getting close to people."
This comes after the COVID-19 protocols are still in place for the public to follow. Despite having the event in the U.S. Capitol, reports noted that it was scaled back in accordance with the safety measures given by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
But, while Michelle Obama, reportedly, kept on advising her husband to quit hugging people at the event, 9Honey reported that witnesses saw her "mingling with plenty of famous guests." These include Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga, who performed at Joe Biden's and Kamala Harris' inauguration.
The publication said that the former First Lady and the Chromatica singer hugged each other after the latter sang the national anthem. Sources, also, noted the pop star even took advantage of her moment to give compliments to Barack Obama's wife.
A week after the celebration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' victory against Donald Trump and Mike Pence, the Obamas are taking their time to mourn the death of Cicely Tyson. The International News stated that the former First Couple paid tributes to the actress and fashion model through their respective social media accounts.
On Twitter, Barack Obama posted a throwback photo of him and his wife, alongside the late celebrity. He shared that Tyson "had a heart unlike any other," adding that "she left a mark on the world that few will ever match."
Similarly, Michelle Obama took her heartfelt post to Instagram and shared a few photos of the actress. She captioned them with a short message, noting how much she will "miss her dearly."
These days, the former First Couple appears to have continued on with their respective campaigns and initiatives. Michelle Obama is seemingly occupied, as well, with her official podcast, The Michelle Obama Podcast.
Hours before paying tribute to Cicely Tyson, she posted a few pointers and insights about the topic that she previously discussed on her platform. In marking the National Mentoring Month, she, also, encouraged her fans and followers to share their own pieces of advice about mentoring.
