They might be playing characters who are natural enemies, but that doesn't mean Jared Leto and Mahershala Ali can't work together in the future. Leto has just teased on a possible Marvel Universe crossover featuring Morbius the Living Vampire and Blade the Daywalker.

Jared Leto has already completed work on Morbius where he will play Michael Morbius, a scientist who becomes a vampire after finding a strange cure for his blood disease. The film was already set for release in July last year but had to be pushed back due to COVID-19.

Although Sony had already moved the Morbius release date twice this year, the studio appears to be taking extra precaution with its premiere. Sony Pictures has decided to push Morbius to a January 2022 release date instead.

It will still be a long wait for Morbius, but Jared Leto is already looking into the future of his new Marvel comic book hero. The Academy Award winner was recently a guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden to promote his new movie The Little Things. Although he was there to discuss a different project, Leto couldn't help but talk about Morbius.

"I actually almost play a vampire in a new film I have coming out called Morbius. He's a Marvel character, and they call him a 'living' vampire, so he's not really a vampire, but he's kind of a super-something," Leto said. "So that's a lot of fun."

There is little doubt that Michael Morbius is an interesting character to play but could he also face off or perhaps team up with another Marvel character connected to the supernatural? James Corden asked Jared Leto if there was any chance that Morbius will come across Blade, who happens to be a vampire hunter. Not surprisingly, the Blade Runner 2049 was enthusiastic about the idea.

"That is a good question, and I could see that happening in the future. I could see that happening, yeah," Leto said.

It has already been confirmed that Mahershala Ali will play Blade in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot, so it's understandable that Jared Leto wants to work on a crossover. This is certainly an awesome idea considering that a project featuring the vampire and the vampire hunter could go two ways. They could either face off against each other or work together in defeating a common enemy.

There's another reason why a Morbius/Blade crossover will be an instant hit. After all, Jared Leto and Mahershala Ali are Oscar winners, and having the two in one film would mean instant box office success.

For now, a Morbius/Blade crossover has not yet been officially announced. Likewise, Mahershala Ali's Blade reboot has not been given an official release date. In the meantime, Morbius is scheduled for release on January 21, 2022.
