Actor, singer and songwriter Park Yoochun is set to make a comeback on the big screen after his "retirement" in 2019 as he landed the lead role in the upcoming indie film, To Evil.

According to reports, Park will star alongside "active theater actors" and will begin filming on Feb. 22. Work on the movie is expected to finish within a month.

A separate report also stated that the actual title of the film is Make An Offering to Evil and could likely change when the film has been translated for English-speaking audiences.

Park's return has fans eager because they have missed the K-pop star in the screen and the stage. One fan said on Twitter that they have been waiting for this moment and are proud that he's straightened up his life. Another fan posted that he should ignore the naysayers and focus on proving that he's a talented star.

In 2019, Park was arrested under the suspicion that he purchased and used methamphetamine, and then, allegedly, destroyed the evidence of his drug use by shaving all of his body hair before a drug test. After admitting to the drug charges, the K-pop star was given a two-year probation and a 10-month prison sentence. He was also fined by the courts while his agency, C-JeS Entertainment, ended his contract.

After his stay in prison, Park said that he would retire from the entertainment industry. However, he's been slowly making his comeback online with the launch of a new website and plans for an album.

Park also came to a fan meeting in Thailand months after his scandal broke. The entertainer also launched an Instagram page and YouTube channel, where he said he'll chart his daily activities.

The announcement caused quite a stir among K-pop fans with many expressing their shock about his "brazen" return since his controversial drug arrest was only less than two years ago.

Park was also involved in numerous sexual allegations before his drug-related scandal. In 2017, a woman came forward with claims that the actor sexually assaulted her. In 2019, another woman filed a civil lawsuit with the same charges and asked for 100 million won in damages. Both times, the actor denied the accusations.

Park's last film had been Lucid Dream, a 2017 Netflix sci-fi thriller. He started out as an artist belonging to the South Korean boyband TVXQ and JYJ. Once he shifted to acting, the K-pop star power rose and he was cast in moves like Rooftop Prince and Haemoo.
