Prince William gave an update on the condition of his grandfather, Prince Philip, who has been staying at a London hospital for almost a week.

The Duke of Cambridge said that his grandfather is doing fine as doctors have been keeping an eye on 99-year-old Philip. William did not elaborate much but gave the public a wink when he asked about the Duke of Edinburgh during his visit to a vaccination center near his country home in Norfolk.

Philip was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 16, after days of feeling unwell. His eldest son, Prince Charles, visited him on Saturday and caused quite a stir about the real health status of the Queen's husband.

Charles had to travel over 200 miles to see his father and breached COVID-19 protocols since visits to the hospital are only allowed under "exceptional circumstances." Reports stated that Philip was not expected to stay longer than a few days at the hospital hence his son had to see him.

Buckingham Palace said Friday that the Duke of Edinburgh will likely not be discharged yet since doctors would like to keep monitoring his condition "out of an abundance of caution." They clarified, however, that Philip's illness is not due to COVID-19 or the vaccination he received together with Queen Elizabeth in early January.

Charles didn't stay in London or head to Windsor after his visit to his father. Instead, he went back home to his country estate, which suggested that the Duke of Edinburgh's health may be improving. Had Philip's health been seriously at risk, Charles would have remained close to the hospital or become ready for the worst and stay near his mother, the Queen.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry has been calling his grandmother to ask about Philip. Reports cited that the Duke of Sussex is preparing to self-isolate at his home in Montecito, California with Meghan Markle so he could travel back to London on a private jet if it was needed.

Harry and Meghan told the Queen over the weekend that they will not be resuming their royal duties after a year of living in the United States and cutting deals with different media companies. According to an insider, William has been "very upset" over how Harry and Meghan seemed to have insulted their grandmother by disturbing a statement after Buckingham Palace announced they will lose their royal patronages and Harry's military roles as a result of their decision.
