The long wait is over for fans outside Japan as Violet Evergarden: The Movie will soon arrive in the United States and Canada. Funimation recently confirmed the news, noting that the franchise's final installment will receive a theatrical release in the said countries.

CBR reported that the material will be in select theaters on March 30, adding that it will be in Japanese audio with English subtitles. As for ticket selling, fans and interested viewers may get their tickets starting on March 19.

The upcoming film will serve as the conclusion of Violet's story. It is not the first theatrical release from the franchise, though, as two other spin-off movies dropped last year.

The publication noted that Funimation, also, released a brief take on the synopsis of Violet Evergarden: The Movie. Apart from it being the final chapter in the protagonist's life, it will provide closure, as well, for both the characters and the viewers of the entire franchise.

The story begins with a terminally ill boy, who asks for her services for his family. Violet, then, encounters, once again, the feelings of "love and loss." In her and the boy's journey, she now confronts her "past and the death of the Major."

Funimation's Senior Vice President of Global Commerce, later on, released a statement regarding the upcoming movie. Mitchel Berger said that they are all proud to "bring the final moving story" of Violet to the audience. He, also, noted that Kyoto Animation has delivered a "visually stunning" and "deeply moving universal story about love and loss" through Violet Evergarden: The Movie.

Crunchyroll previously reported that the final installment into Violet's life first premiered in Japan last September. A few weeks into the screening, Violet Evergarden: The Movie became the second-highest-grossing anime film produced at Kyoani, surpassing K-On! The Movie.

It grossed $18,354,055 in less than eight weeks, making it an impressive material in the world of anime films. The publication, also, added that it became the ninth highest-grossing animated film of 2020 all over the world.

The successful release caused the production to expand its reach in Japan at that time. They extended, as well, the theatrical release extended until December across the country.

Violet Evergarden: The Movie now has a cumulative worldwide gross number of $19,977,954. Despite its continued success, which will likely persist once it arrives in U.S. and Canada theaters, it has not been able to surpass the highest-grossing Kyoto Animation film, A Silent Voice, yet. As reported, it grossed over $22 million over its lifetime run in Japan.
