Syfy announced in February 2021 that Wynonna Earp season 5 is not happening. The network confirmed that the remaining episodes of the fourth installment will wrap up the story. But, despite the cancellation, it seems like the supernatural series may continue on another platform.

Showrunner Emily Andras remains positive that Wynonna Earp season 5 will find a new home in the future. At the moment, the second half of season 4 is airing, with the final episode slated to air on Friday, April 9. The ratings might be one of the factors on why the series is ending.

Reportedly, the show struggled in ratings even though it established a passionate following over the past years. However, there is still hope that the fifth outing will be revived. In fact, Andras talked about the possibility of the series landing in a new home at some point.

Speaking with THR's TV's Top 5 podcast, the showrunner said that they are in meeting all the time and she gets updates from the producers ranking their target of opportunity. Then, she mentioned some potential platforms: IMDbTV, Hulu, and the newly rebranded Paramount+.

One of the major candidates that might pick up Wynonna Earp season 5 is Paramount+. Since the streaming service is new, it could entice new subscribers if it would add a show that already has a built-in audience. The show could also be an assent for the platform to make a mark in the field.

Meanwhile, the cast and crew also want to continue Wynonna Earp season 5 and beyond. In 2020, even before the cancellation announcement, Doc Holliday actor Tim Rozon shared that everybody wanted to continue the series for more seasons -- but the decision depends on Syfy.

At the time, he said that he might have said goodbye to his character since they almost lost the fourth installment due to the pandemic. He also said that he's going to take all in if ever the series will not be renewed on the network.

The series follows the titular character plays by Melanie Scrofano. She is Wyatt Earp's great-great-granddaughter, who holds the power of the Peacemaker handgun. It also explores her relationship with Doc Holliday and Waverly Earp (Dominique Provist-Chalkley).

If Wynonna Earp season 5 will continue somewhere else, the story could properly wrap up the story of the titular character. Also, it allows fans to say goodbye to the series, which is airing on the small screen since 2016. But, for now, viewers have to wait for what's coming for the series after season 4.
