Showtime has officially revealed the premiere date of The Chi season 4. The third installment concluded in August 2020 and was renewed just less than a month after that. However, production didn't start immediately due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the delay The Chi season 4 has encountered, Showtime finally confirmed the release date of the next chapter. The announcement was made through a video clip, which further hypes up the journey and what lies ahead for several characters.

The series sees the residents in Chicago while navigating their life in the Windy City. It shows the highs and lows of the community, which comes along with pain and hardship. The third installment ended on a dramatic note, leaving more rooms to explore for the next chapter.

In the season 3 finale, Douda (Curtiss Cook) won the mayoral bid against Camille Hallaway (Lena Waithe). However, he continues with his street dealings and even enlists Trig (Luke James) to manage things for him in exchange for paying his brother's, Jake (Michael Epps), schooling.

As for Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and Tiffany (Hannaha Hall), the couple finally got married after facing a lot of drama in their relationship. The former's infidelity has been a major issue and he was able to conceal his hookup with Dom (La La Anthony). It's yet to be seen whether this secret will come out in The Chi season 4.

Perhaps, the biggest storyline in the upcoming installment revolves around Keisha (Birgundi Baker). She managed to escape from her abductor, but later on, she found out that she's pregnant. While she wanted to abort the baby so she can go to college at first, she ultimately decided to keep it.

Meanwhile, a video message was posted on the official Twitter account of the series featuring creator Lena Whaite. In the clip, she teased that fans and viewers will go on a "hell of a ride" when The Chi season 4 premieres in a couple of months.

Waithe said that they stepped up the game in the fourth installment -- including the cinematography and the wardrobe. As for the story itself, she noted that it's all about love, protest, finding your voice, and how to use that voice. The upcoming season is going to be filled with unexpected twists and turns.

The Chi season 4 is premiering on Sunday, May 23, on Showtime.
