Meghan Markle is also in mourning just like the rest of the royal family as she also lost a family member when Prince Philip died.

According to her friend and biographer, Omid Scobie, the Duchess of Sussex might not be present at the funeral but she has been supporting her husband, Prince Harry, and the rest of the royal family. Scobie also said that it has been a sad week for Markle as she had a good relationship with the Duke of Edinburgh.

Meghan Markle was advised against flying back to London with Harry because she's too far along with her second pregnancy. Instead, the duchess watched the funeral from her home in California.

Scobie also said that Meghan "did her bit" by sending a wreath with a handwritten note through the florist that decorated the chapel for her son Archie's baptism two years ago.

Harry and Meghan chose the flowers that were placed on the wreath, which had special significance to the Duke of Edinburgh. The wreath was set down at the halls of St. George's Chapel during the funeral, along with the other flowers from family and friends.

According to Meghan's friends, Queen Elizabeth completely understands why her granddaughter-in-law was absent from the funeral. Insiders said that the duchess had been in contact with the queen following the death of her husband to express her sympathy.

Meanwhile, Meghan can expect Harry to be back home to California within the week as the Duke of Sussex has no plans to extend his stay in London even as Queen Elizabeth will celebrate her 95th birthday on Wednesday. Her Majesty will likely not have a gathering since she remains in the COVID-19 bubble and she is still in mourning.

Before leaving the United Kingdom, however, Harry is expected to talk to his father, Prince Charles. He has already been seen in public with his brother, Prince William, despite earlier telling American journalists Gayle King and Oprah Winfrey that his relationships with Charles and William need mending.

Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting their second child in June. The couple shared in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that they are having a daughter. This will be their last baby since the duchess is in her 40s and has had a miscarriage prior to getting pregnant with her second baby.

The Duke of Sussex didn't want to be away too long from his pregnant wife. He also could likely quarantine for two weeks upon arrival in the U.S.
