Amazon Prime Video first announced The Boys spin-off back in September 2020. The success of the flagship show is, reportedly, one of the reasons why the streaming platform is expanding the universe of the satirical superhero drama. Shortly after its announcement, a lot of casting details have emerged.

Recently, it was confirmed that Greenhouse Academy alumna Reina Hardesty will be one of the lead stars of The Boys spin-off. No further details have been unveiled about her character, but she is said to play the role of an aspiring superhero.

The spin-off is based on the G-Men, a comics' parody of MCU's X-Men. There is a huge chance that Hardesty's character is inspired by one of the superheroes in the comics. More details about her role might be further unveiled in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, this isn't the first time Hardesty starred in a superhero series, as she's also known for her role as Joslyn Jackam/Weather Witch in The CW's The Flash. Prior to this announcement, other cast members joining The Boys spin-off have been announced, as well.

Maddie Phillips, Aimee Carrero, Shane Paul McGhie, Lizzie Broadway, and Jaz Sinclair are all confirmed to appear in the upcoming spin-off. Details about their roles were also being kept under wraps. But, just like Hardesty's character, they are aspiring superheroes attending Vought's college.

As for the story of The Boys spin-off, it'll center around the lives of "young, hormonal, contentious supes" studying at the Vought college. The series is said to be R-rated, which will be developed by the flagship's creator, Eric Kripke, alongside Craig Rosenberg as showrunner and executive producer.

In an interview with The Wrap in 2020, Kripke revealed that the superhero team is assembled by pedophile John Godolkin. He said that the series is "one of the most realistic college shows anyone's made." But, although set in the same universe, there are no current crossover plans with its predecessor.

At the moment, the upcoming show has no official title. The focus remains on the main series, with the third season currently in production in Vancouver, Canada. Filming kicked off in February 2021 and it is expected to wrap up some time in September 2021.

Fans have to wait for the spinoff since there is no clear timetable when production could start. Due to the COVID-119 pandemic, a lot of schedules were pushed back, which likely caused further delay for the new series. The Boys spin-off has no official release date but t is slated for a 2023 release.
