All set for the 25th Detective Conan movie after the success of the 24th film, Detective Conan: The Scarlett Bullet. The next movie installment will adapt the Detective Conan Police Academy arc - Wild Police Story, which the manga serialized last year.
Detective Conan: The Scarlett Bullet just hit the theaters on April 16. After just a few days, the 25th Detective Conan film has been announced.
According to Epic Dope, the Police Academy arc is the main series' spinoff. It is based on the five main characters: Jinpei Matsuda, Wataru Date, Kenji Hagiwara, Hiromitsu Morofushi, and Rei Furuya.
Fans are about to see Rei Furuya ins his early Police Academy days, while its story mainly focuses on Hiromitsu Morofushi, back when he was only 22 years old. Hiromitsu is the deceased detective who used to work undercover in the Black Organization.
Now, fans will get to know more of him and his background in the 25th Detective Conan movie. Hiromitsu chose to be a police officer after witnessing a murder when he was young, leaving him traumatized.
The movie will feature a new arc that will feature some of the series' underrated characters . Just like other storylines that the franchise has featured, this one, too, is a must-see.
Detective Conan: Police Academy Arc Wild Police Story serialized on Weekly Shounen Sunday Combined Issue 27 and 28, out on June 3, 2020. It introduced the young Andou Tooru, a popular character in the series, Anime Global noted.
It is an original story by Aoyama Gosho, the original author himself, and the illustrator Arai Takahiro. It told the story of Hagiwara, Matsuda's friend and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department bomb squadron's former member. Fans also saw the real him in this arc that they had never seen before in the series' main story.
Meanwhile, Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet becomes a huge hit when it drops in Japan theaters, per Coming Soon. It experiences an excellent opening weekend, bringing in a whopping $1.2 million.
As it is only seen on 38 IMAX theaters in the county, it means each screen earns $32,000. This success turns to be the third-highest IMAX opening weekend since the COVID-19 pandemic began, following Demon Slayer and Shin Evangelion.
It is also the fourth-highest opening IMAX screen for a local Japanese movie, just five percent behind Weathering With You's opening, and the eighth-highest IMAX opening in the country. It successfully surpassed Star Wars: Rogue One and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The 25th Detective Conan movie will be out in 2022.
