NCIS season 18 episode 12 will be a significant one for Wilmer Valderrama's Nick Torres, as the case he's about to investigate is connected to someone in his family. His estranged father, in particular, became tied to a murder case and the agent must find out whether or not he's really involved.
NCIS season 18 episode 12 is a chance to learn more about Nick's backstory, particularly when it comes to his father, Miguel Torres (Steven Bauer), whom he hasn't seen since he was young. Per the synopsis, evidence from the stabbing of a Marine Sergeant will direct the agent in meeting his father.
Based on the sneak peek, the team found DNA evidence at the crime scene and has a familiar match for Nick. This clue, then, leads him to come face-to-face with his father and it comes as a huge surprise to everyone. The agent believed that Miguel was already dead several years ago.
As seen in the clip, Timothy McGee tried to chase down a suspect and called Nick in to help him with the mission. They were able to subdue him at gunpoint, and when the man looked at them, he removed his mask and the shock is evident on his face when he saw Valderamma's character.
Only a few things were known about Nick's father, especially since he left him when he was five. Thus, Miguel's presence in NCIS season 18 episode 12 means Nick's past will be fleshed out, including why his father chose to leave them and didn't show up in the years that followed.
While Nick's past has been touched before, the police procedural has not addressed what his life was before joining the department. And even though his sister has made an appearance before, the agent remains private when it comes to his personal life.
Now, the biggest question in NCIS season 18 episode 12 is whether or not Nick will believe whatever his father says. Since Miguel hasn't been present in his life for a long time, it would be hard for the agent to trust him if he's not tied to the case.
Elsewhere, investigative reporter Marcie Warren (Pam Dawber) is coming back and will spend more time together with Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). The latter was suspended at the moment, though he still managed to find ways to work with everyone in the department.
NCIS season 18 episode 12 is titled "Sangre" and it will be airing on Tuesday, April 20, on CBS.
