This Is Us season 5 episode 14 is finally arriving on NBC after almost a month of hiatus. Now that the short break of the family drama has come to an end, viewers can expect more big stories coming for most of the characters -- especially to the significant others of the Big Three.
This Is Us season 5 episode 14 is titled "The Music and the Mirror" and it's going to focus on the partners of the Pearson siblings, Kevin (Justin Hartley), Randall (Sterling K. Brown), and Kate (Chrissy Metz). For instance, Madison (Caitlin Thompson) continues preparing for her upcoming wedding.
Beth's (Susan Kelechi Watson) career as a ballet teacher will further progress, as well. But perhaps, the biggest storyline is tied to Kate's husband, Toby (Chris Sullivan). His father (Dan Lauria) is going to show up and his arrival will likely bring significant stories to the character.
Toby hasn't seen his father for a long time, so there's a question as to why he suddenly showed up in This Is Us season 5 episode 14. The two could have serious conversations on certain matters, especially now that Kate's husband is trying to figure out how to move with his professional life.
Toby has been struggling to find what's next for his career and he might be looking for his father at this phase of his life. Also, this is an interesting storyline for the character since his arc is often tied to Kate. This time, he's going to have his own and it could bring emotional moments.
Elsewhere, the promo of This Is Us season 5 episode 14, which was released in April, focused on the journey of Randall and Beth. As seen in the clip, the former looks worried about his wife and asked their daughter, Deja (Lyric Ross), to "keep an eye" on her mother.
However, Deja told his father that "she doesn't need a hero" and all he needs to do is "be there for her." The scene shifted to Beth inside the bedroom while putting her blazer on. And despite his daughter's advice, the promo ends with Randall full of concern on his face.
As for what else is coming, some of the preview photos showed Rebecca (Mandy Moore), Kate, and Madison spending more time together as they hunt for the latter's wedding dress. Rebecca and Kate also look delighted looking and Madison wearing her potential gown.
This Is Us season 5 episode 14 airs on Tuesday, May 11, on NBC.
