GFriend shocked the public upon announcing their exit from Source Music earlier this week. As it happened, the K-Pop group and their label failed to end up renewing their links after the expiration of the members' contracts.

The official departure took place on Saturday, as it is the date stipulated in their legal agreements. On the same day, the six K-Pop idols shared an update on their respective Instagram accounts.

Koreaboo said that all of the members posted the same photo, featuring all six of them as they split in "half to walk on separate paths." They, also, utilized the same caption, with each of them using a different color of heart emoji. It says, "GFRIEND loves BUDDY. Love you always."

The members of the group, also, posted it simultaneously on the same hour. But, despite using one photo and one caption, fans and followers across the globe expressed their sadness and support on the idols' respective updates. Many took the time to shower them, as well, with adoration and "love."

While the departure already took place, it remains unclear what the six K-Pop idols plan to do moving forward outside Source Music. They have yet to address this matter but, reports continued to emphasize that the GFriend and their label did not use the word "disband."

South China Morning Post released a similar article, covering the potential future of the members. As noted, there are claims that Source Music trademarked the name of the group, making it impossible for the six idols to use it outside the agency. Accordingly, if they intend to continue their career as a six-member K-Pop group, they will likely use a different name.

As the speculations regarding their next activities and plans develop further, Source Music recently released a lengthy announcement about the future of the GFriend-related content. These include the group's social media accounts, platform memberships, and other things that have something to do with GFriend.

The label said that they will continue to maintain the group's existing social media accounts for access. However, creating and adding new posts will no longer be available.

As for the BUDDY memberships, especially on Weverse, Source Music said that refunds will be available. But, it redirected the queries and clarifications on the platform's refund guidelines.

In the end, they asked for consideration and understanding after "causing concern to all fans." Nevertheless, Source Music assured the fandom that they will continue to support the members of GFriend in their future endeavors.
