Chinese smartphones have surged in terms of their popularity in recent times. Most of the devices on offer possess more power than many other smartphones, and they tend to be cheaper in price too. Alongside being able to host apps like WhatsApp, many of the leading Chinese brands offer a range of other sophisticated features, such as facial recognition and powerful cameras.

As a result, the world is enticed by a variety of Chinese-based smartphone devices from the likes of One Plus, Huawei and Xiaomi. Dan Wang, technology analyst at research firm Gavekal Dragonomics, says that Chinese companies have won over consumers in foreign territories. He said: "Chinese smartphone-makers have captured around 40% of the global market share, showing that Chinese firms are increasingly capable of building consumer products with global appeal."

Chinese smartphones will only continue to reach a wider audience in the future also, especially as new technologies emerge and consumer confidence in Chinese brands grows further. Already we are seeing Chinese smartphones make inroads on the rest of the world, with established brands such as Apple and Samsung coming under threat.
