The recent Jump Festa 2022 revealed major details about the much-awaited anime and manga series, including that of "Dr. Stone" Season 3. The franchise has officially dropped the new season's release window and it looks like fans will be up in a long waiting game.

"Dr. Stone" Season 3 will not hit the small screen until 2023, making the wait longer than expected. However, a new special is about to be out next year to entertain the awaiting viewers.

The anime's first two seasons had a two-year gap, so the 2023 release was just right. But, fans would see the franchise return in 2022 with a new special featuring the next major addition to Senku's Kingdom of Science, Ryusui Nanami, Comicbook noted.

The special will be called "Dr. Stone: Ryusui," which will be out in 2022. It will bridge the gap between "Dr. Stone: Stone Wars" and the upcoming season.

However, there are no words yet on how long this special will run, but it will be a significant part of the anime series as the group makes their way around the world. Senku and the rest of the team will be going on an epic adventure as they go to "uncharted new territories."

"Dr. Stone" Season 3 will be adapting the Age of Exploration arc and will feature Senku and his friends on a nautical adventure, per Trinikid. They will be building the mighty ship Perseus this time and go sailing around the world.

They will be trying to solve what caused humanity to turn into stone and create more inventions to help it get back on track. With the plenty of source material, fans can expect the series to have more seasons to answer all their questions about Senku, the Science Kingdom and the civilization.

With that said, aside from the anime, the manga remains in active production and has no plans to slow down anytime soon. However, the manga author Riichiro Inagaki revealed he would never stretch out Senku's story for the sake of profit.

"So as far as the end, I'm not sure, and that's not necessarily about the story," he said. He explained they already had a general idea of how the series would end itself.

However, as everyone had gone along with this journey, Inagaki revealed it was something three steps forward, two steps back. Despite that, the mangaka wanted to see it end and promised not to stretch it out because of business.
