There will be a memorial service to honor the late Prince Philip in March, but it looks like one major family member will not be able to attend it. Rumors have it Prince Harry will not be part of the ceremony due to his rift with the Home Office about his security in the U.K.
There will be a Thanksgiving Service to honor Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey on March 29 after his death last April. Sadly, Prince Harry may miss this special occasion because of his legal battle against the U.K. Government over his security measures.
Express noted that the Duke of Sussex has been questioning the Home Office's decision not to give him or his family protection in Britain. As a part of the royal family, his lawyer insisted he has "inherited a security risk at birth" and it will continue for the rest of his life.
Hence, there's a dire need for strict security measures when he's in the U.K. For starters, the Sussexes used to have taxpayer-funded police protection before they stepped down as senior royals in March 2020.
Though the controversial royal couple has been paying for private security in the U.S., their team can't give the same police protection they need when they're in the U.K. So without that protection, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two kids, Archie and Lilibet, may not return to his home country due to the possible danger that may happen.
On Friday, the court heard that Princess Diana's youngest son doesn't "feel safe" in Britain without the needed police protection. Despite the doubts, his lawyer, Shaheed Fatima QC, revealed he wanted to return to see his family and friends and support charities, knowing "this is and always will be his home."
Prince Harry has only come back home twice since he moved to the U.S. in 2020. Sadly, he has never been with Meghan Markle or their kids.
In fact, there are also rumors that the Duchess of Sussex has no plans to return to the U.K. and she "doesn't care" about what the British people will say. Royal biographer Tom Bower claimed the former actress thinks Britain is a "lost cause" and doesn't want to come back as her popularity, allegedly, declines.
He told The Sun the mother-of-two's destination is "unclear," though she seems to have a future as a politician in the U.S. Bower added he suspected Meghan Markle no longer cares if she's still welcome in London as she, reportedly, has no intentions to return to Prince Harry's homeland.
