Kim Tae Ri opened up about herself and her character in "Twenty-Five Twenty-One" after the K-drama ended with high ratings. From playing the role of a high school student in her 30s to confessing she has never liked anyone, the actress made big revelations that no one knew about.
Kim Tae Ri played the role of Na Hee Do opposite Nam Joo Hyuk (Baek Jin) in "Twenty-Five Twenty-One." Fans loved their sweet banters and incredible chemistry, but little did they know her personal life was far different from her character.
Unlike Na Hee Do, who met her love interest at a young age, the K-drama star revealed in an interview, via AllKpop, she has not met her first love until now. Personally, she found herself not romantic, so she did not have any romance in her body, unlike her character in the series.
"I never liked anyone," she said. This even worried her that she might not meet anyone for the rest of her life.
So if ever she is about to meet her significant other, she wants someone she likes passionately like Na Hee Do. She wishes someone like Baek Jin would come into her life.
If this happens, she will tell this person, "I have to have you," just like what Na Hee Do told Baek Jin in "Twenty-Five Twenty-One."
Meanwhile, talking about the Netflix series, Kim Tae Ri revealed she did not expect the show would receive a hot response, per Soompi. In fact, when she started filming the series, she was not expecting a lot from it.
However, the staff members went through a lot when they filmed in the winter, so the viewership ratings were a reward for them. "Twenty-Five Twenty-One" was her first drama after almost four years following "Mr. Sunshine," which was also another hit.
Doing the right and successful projects, she revealed that it might have stemmed from reading the scripts well. Acting like the energetic and free-spirited Na Hee Do, the 31-year-old star said she thought she was instinctively playing the role.
After her character experienced trauma, pain, issues with her mom and the gold medal incident, she felt she was thinking about it wrong. She thought about what these things would be like for her at her age.
Kim Tae Ri, then, realized she might have missed a lot in terms of what she would have done as a high school student. "Twenty-Five Twenty-One" officially ended on April 3.
