Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised the people of Britain after seeing them in the U.K. for the first time together after the controversial royal exit. Before they made their way to The Hague for The Invictus Games this weekend, the two visited Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle on Thursday, April 14 and a royal expert saw it as an offer of reconciliation.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's spokesperson confirmed the couple made a stop in the U.K. to see Queen Elizabeth. As the Duke of Sussex said he hoped to visit his grandmother soon after failing to attend the memorial service of his grandfather, Prince Philip.

Express noted the visitors at Windsor Castle who attended the Maundy Thursday service saw the Sussexes. An eyewitness revealed the two royals even waved at everyone on the bus.

As no one saw this happening, they said they were all surprised to see them in Britain. As people waved at them, they gladly waved back.

A spectator revealed that both looked happy and relaxed and willingly waved to everyone on the bus. Prince Charles was said to be also at the premises, so Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might have visited him, too.

With this move, royal expert Ingrid Seward saw it as an offer of reconciliation. She told The Sun it was a great "opportunity to clear the air and offer an olive branch."

After everything has happened, it may be a lot for them to visit the country. The timing is also deemed perfect, as Maundy Thursday is said to be a special day for Queen Elizabeth, "as it's about forgiveness."

She's not the type who holds grudges, so she might have welcomed them with open arms. This marks the first time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited the U.K. together after stepping back as senior royals in March 2020.

It is also the first time the former actress flew across the pond after they relocated to Montecito, California, in the same year, per UsWeekly. However, it was the third time for the military veteran to return to his home country following the royal exit.

He first set foot in Britain again to attend Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021, followed by the unveiling of the statue of his late mother, Princess Diana, in Kensington Palace in July 2021. His wife, however, was not with him when they attended the two events.

Prince Harry also failed to honor the Duke of Edinburgh at the Service of Thanksgiving memorial given to him nearly one year after death. There were claims it had something to do with his ongoing security case after applying for judicial review of the Home Office's decision that he couldn't personally fund his and his family's protection while abroad.
